When Sourcing Isn’t Straightforward: A Real Story from Yetira

Not every sourcing request is easy, and that’s exactly what makes this work meaningful.

We recently received an enquiry from a buyer in Canada for a 650 GSM jacquard terry towel. On paper, it may sound like a standard product, but in reality, it’s far from it.

Jacquard terry weaving itself is highly specialized. Across the world, the number of skilled jacquard weavers is already limited. When it comes to producing this on auto looms, especially at a heavier weight like 650 GSM, the options become even more restricted.

That was our starting point.

On top of that, there was a practical challenge. The looms were already running full-scale production orders. Setting up a jacquard design isn’t something you can do quickly, it takes close to three days just to prepare the loom. Stopping an ongoing order for a single sample is not an easy decision for any manufacturer.

But the buyer needed a sample to move forward.

This is where sourcing goes beyond coordination, it becomes about relationships.

Because of the trust we’ve built with our artisan partners, we were able to have an open conversation, align expectations, and find a way to make the sampling happen without disrupting their commitments too heavily.

It wasn’t instant. It wasn’t simple. But it was possible.

And when the sample finally reached the buyer, they liked it.

Moments like this are a reminder of what sourcing really is:

It’s not just about finding a supplier.
It’s about understanding constraints, respecting craftsmanship, and working patiently to bridge both sides.

At Yetira, that’s what we aim to do every day.
